Spyker Drops Albers: Official

By Team Principal on Wed July 25 2007

Winklehock stood in for him in Europe, but the team has decided to go with Sakon Yamamoto, former Super Aguri 'driver'.  As I was saying in my previous post, Spyker needed rid of Albers, who showed nothing but his arrogant personality, but replacing him with Yamamoto was not what I had in mind.  Vetaren of seven Grand Prix starts and four retirements for Aguri in 2006, he has been racing in GP2 since then.

OUT! Potential Empty STR Race Seats.

By Team Principal on Wed July 25 2007

Why did the team re-sign them? At the end of last season, had Liuzzi or Speed made a strong enough impression to be retained by Toro Rosso? In my opinion they hadn't, but obviously the Red Bull Young Driver program was not the dead duck it seems to be in F1 then as it was now and they were perhaps seen as needing further nurture before they bloomed.

F1 2007 European Grand Prix Report.

By Team Principal on Sun July 22 2007

Had to get the qualifying results from the websites this morning, as work commitments made it impossible for me to catch it live.  With the news that Hamilton would be fit to race today, came a little hope that he could at least salvage some points and maintain a healthy championship lead, but this hope faded with the chaos that ensued thanks to the Nurburgring's infamous changeable weather.

Indy Won't Return in 2008

By Team Principal on Thu July 12 2007

Whereas the other famous Indy is set to return next year, Indianapolis Speedway will not be hosting the US Grand Prix next year, as Bernie and circuit boss Tony George couldn't reach an agreement concerning, presumably, money.  I must say I am surprised, as America has long been hailed as F1's financial Mecca, so with no Indy and no other US GP planned, exactly how does Bernie expect to conquer the US?

F1 2007 British Grand Prix Race

By Team Principal on Tue July 10 2007

Words such as disappointment, when used concerning a race driver who has been on the podium for nine consecutive races, just goes to show what we have come to expect from Lewis Hamilton this season.  But it was said that he was dealing with disappointment following his third place at Silverstone, following his amazing pole position lap.  Should he feel this way, should we?

Lewis Hamilton On Pole At The British Grand Prix!

By Team Principal on Sat July 7 2007

As the Q3 clock ticked down to 5:00, it looked unlikely that Lewis was going to sit at the front of the pack.  Alonso had been slamming in the times and was out to prove himself in front of the young usurper's home crowd.  Raikkonen was beginning to show the pace that had set practice alight and briefly snatched the pole, but less than half a minute later, Hamilton stormed over the line and whipped the carpet from under everyone's feet.

Espionage, the Scots and the British Grand Prix

By Team Principal on Fri July 6 2007

Is the title of this post the start of one of those jokes?  Like an Irishman, Scotsman and Englishman on a train?  Unfortunately it's not all a joke, but at least some of it is good news.  David Coulthard has been confirmed as a Red Bull Racing F1 driver for the 2008 season, meaning the team has its drivers all sorted until 2009, as Mark Webber is in year 1 of a 2 year deal.

US and French Grand Prix Overview.

By Team Principal on Wed July 4 2007

F1 Pitbox has been without it usual Grand Prix qualifying and race reports due to me falling asleep during Indy and only waking briefly when Raikkonen pulled a Schumi and overtook team mate Massa at Magny Cours. Of course, this didn't happen (an extended holiday happened really), but the fact remains that neither race could stand up and proclaim that it was actually exciting. Even though Hamilton produced another fantastic win in the USA, the rest of the race was uneventful and France was similarly tedious.
