Briton number four was confirmed today as Mclaren ended the wait to find out who partners Fernando Alonso in 2007.  Lewis Hamilton, GP2 champion, will be filling the second race seat at the Woking based team next year, beating de la Rosa and Gary Paffett to it.

He is rapidly becoming the most talked about man in F1, but for how long?  According to ITV F1 and the german newspaper Bild, possibly only for the duration of his Ferrari contract.  When asked if anyone could knock departing Ferrari megastar Schumacher from his seven World Championship record, Kimi stated that someone could, given the right team and car, but added that it would unlikely be him as he 'didn't think he would be in F1 that long'.

World Champion 2007?

According to a report on ITV's F1 website, Renault's Giancarlo Fisichella is quite rightly talking up his chances of taking the 2007 world championship.  On the same site hidden away in the bottom corner of the page is a poll asking the readers of their opinion of Fisi's chances, of which 75% think the Italian is only dreaming.  A woeful 7% consider him to definitely be a contender and 16% think maybe.

Massa vs. Raikkonen.

For a man who has driving talent coming out of his ice-cold ears, Kimi Raikkonen rarely has the opportunity to shine.  If it isn't his expensive Mercedes powerplant frying behind his head, then he is being rammed off the road by other drivers, including his team-mates.  One of the enduring images in my mind from this year's season is Kimi taking the long walk back to the pits after retiring from the Monaco Grand Prix.  A man who could have added another win to his record, but instead everything around him conspired against him.  The stroll back allowed him to accept this and move on, maybe even with the thought that in 2007, things would be different.

Season Finale.

Stupid work!  Thanks to a contract that saw me working on the evening of the Brazilian Grand Prix, it took until today for me to watch the closing race of the 2006 F1 season.  Obviously I was unable to avoid the result for this long, but it didn't matter, it was still exciting as I had no idea what a fight Schumacher put up to achieve his fourth place finish.
