Monza Countdown.

By Team Principal on Thu August 31 2006

With Michael Schumacher losing ground on Alonso at Turkey, Monza becomes even more important to Ferrari than normal.  It is also important to F1 fans in general, as Ferrari have announced that it will be at a press briefing over the race weekend that they will finally tell us their 2007 driver line-up.  The common thought is that Schumacher will retire and Raikkonen will partner Massa, but I'm still not sure that this will be the case.

Turkish Grand Prix Qualifying.

By Team Principal on Sun August 27 2006

The coverage for the Turkish F1 qualifying on Greek TV was excellent for a change. During the first and second sessions, viewers were treated to much in-car footage of a decent length and through those four fast corners too! Exciting stuff for the spectator; just imagine it for the driver! I recall Toro Rosso pilot Tonio Liuzzi blasting through this section and having an oversteer moment just after the third turn...

FIA Bans Mass Dampers.

By Team Principal on Thu August 24 2006

Although the mass damper set-up has not been used for the last two Grand Prix, they were declared race-legal in Germany.  But the FIA have had another glance over them and decided that they were right all along, no one gets to use them from now on.  The team who used these seemingly to great effect is current championship leaders, Renualt.

Turkish Grand Prix Preview.

By Team Principal on Tue August 22 2006

Holiday time is nearly over for F1 and the Turkish delight of Istanbul awaits.  Alonso has stated that he feels confident for the race, regardless of his championship position.  Kimi, who won last year's inaugural race from pole, says the same.  All is quiet on the Schumi front though.  He must be keen to assert his authority here as last year, he spun out in qualifying and retired from the race; not the best of weekends at all.

F1 at Laguna Seca

By Team Principal on Wed August 16 2006

What a treat anyone who lives in the area of the Laguna Seca race track is in for! This fantastic track is where I really want to see F1 cars fight it out on, and if I can't see that then the next best thing is to see one F1 car on the circuit. Toyota test driver Ricardo Zonta is piloting his F1 car around the track as part of it's historic race weekend on the 18th-20th August 2006.

Should Ferrari Have Pulled Rank?

By Team Principal on Thu August 10 2006

The closing stages of the exciting Hungarian Grand Prix saw Schumi battle with McLaren's de la Rosa and BMW-Sauber's Nick Heidfeld.  It was during this battle that some kind of damage occured to force the Ferrari driver to retire the lap Heidfeld passed him.  He was obviously struggling to keep the car going forwards, which was clear by the way both these cars caught him, but surely, with Alonso out of the race any points collected would have been a massive help.

Mark Webber Joins Red Bull Racing

By Team Principal on Mon August 7 2006

In the wake of the recent news that Webber was being replaced by Alex Wurz at Williams next season, as expected Webber makes his announcment a few days afterwards. However, it was not what myself and many other expected it to be. It seemed likely that he would join the Briatore run Renault, but instead he will be partnering David Coulthard at Red Bull!

BMW and Villeneuve Split - Official

By Team Principal on Mon August 7 2006

As predicted here, Jacques Villeneuve has parted company with BMW, who will run Robert Kubica in his place. According to this report, BMW had asked him to allow Kubica to race in Hungary, but could offer no assurance that Villeneuve would get the race seat back. Naturally, with this uncertainty, it was sensible for them to go their seperate ways.

Jenson Button Wins the Hungarian F1 Grand Prix!

By Team Principal on Sun August 6 2006

What a race! When I speculated (almost in jest) that we may be in for an exciting race in Hungary yesterday, I had no idea what we were in for! Today was what F1 is all about, these are the races that fans watch a hundred tedious processions for, proof that F1 contains the best drivers in the world. Not only that, but we had multiple leaders, some astounding overtaking moves and a British driver back on the top step of the podium.
